What is The Talent Machine?

...it is a magical, mystery tour

...the most rewarding experience of my performing life

...the group that gives us the warm memories which are the flowers that get us through the cold winter

...my favorite people.

The inspiring woman who spoke these words was Bobbi Smith, founder of The Talent Machine. When Bobbi founded the Company in 1987, her dream was to give young people the opportunity not only to spread their theatrical wings, but to build their self-esteem and sense of team spirit through hard work and dedication.

Bobbi died suddenly in January 2001, leaving the TMC family mourning her loss and wondering if this phenomenon, this magical mystery tour Bobbi created could possibly endure without her. No worries...Bobbi's daughter, Lea Capps, and her sister, Vicki Smith, have carried the torch and Bobbi's dream forward. The magic lives on!

The Talent Machine has been delighting audiences with spectacular children's theater for close to 30 years. Many of the children who have performed over the years have gone on to professional careers as directors, choreographers, composers, and Broadway dancers and actors.

TMC produces three full-length musicals each year that are performed in a large theater for the general public in Annapolis, Maryland. In addition, the Company performs at school fairs, fund-raisers, community events and parades. Children have the opportunity to develop their skills as performers through TMC's Summer Camp programs. Plus The Talent Machine delights families each Spring and Winter with the chance to have Breakfast with the Very Important Bunny or Santa while enjoying a delightful holiday show at Buddies Crabs & Ribs, down at the City Dock in Annapolis!
